Personal Accident Insurance from AIA: How to choose the right plan

With so many different benefit options it can be tricky to choose the best personal accident insurance plan that is right for you.

To help clear any confusion, I’ve made 3 steps that you can follow:

You can look through all of the options below, or you can see my personal recommendations for the best budget plan, the best high payout plan, and the best plan for people who ride motorcycle regularly.

Step 1: Identify the Class your occupation falls under

Your occupation will influence your annual premium in the pricing tables. In the policy brochure you’ll see the different premium price whether you fall under occupation class 1 or 2.

There is also a separate class 3 in the brochure that work with motorcycles, heavy truck with 6 wheels to 10 wheels, electricians, mechanics, laborers, construction workers.

If you are a teacher in Thailand, check out this article.

Step 2: Choose an Insurance plan

I’ve highlighted the available plans below for you to see the general medical expense benefits of each.

Please download and look through the AIA PA brochure for more detailed benefits, terms and conditions, and your specific premium according to your age and situation.

If a plan is not clear or you are not sure about a specific plan, feel free to send me a message and I’ll try to clarify.

Still not sure which plan to choose? Check out my recommendations.

The best plan is always the plan that offers the benefits you need at a premium you can afford. However, if you are still stuck then I have a few recommendations below which you can consider. Please find these plans in the brochure with their terms and conditions.

Best budget plan

If you don’t regularly ride a motorcycle then the AIANPA3300 is a great choice. Starting at 3,300 THB a year you get 40,000 THB medical expense benefit per accident which is great value for money. If you feel that this benefit is enough for your needs, then this plan is perfect for you.

The best high payout plan

If you have a little bit more to spend, the AIANPA5500 offers double benefit payouts. This includes a 100,000 THB medical expense payout per accident. Customers who prefer to be fully covered for any situation, and who want to access more expensive private hospitals can get far with the AIANPA5500 plan.

Best plan for people who ride motorcycles regularly

If you regularly ride a motorcycle, then take a look at the AIANPA3800. It is the higher option in this category with a medical expense payout of 50,000 THB per accident. You even get some daily income compensation during hospitalization. I feel that the lower plans in this category don’t have a very high payout for people who ride often, making the AIANPA3800 more ideal.

Accidents that can be claimed

Personal accident insurance in Thailand can cover you for many different types of accidents. Have a look at the image below to see which accidents can be claimed by AIA personal accident insurance.
